    The Float Shawl reminds us of a field of flowers with its random array of color displayed on a second background color.  This design, by Dawn Barker, uses a technique called Assigned Pooling where the design of the final piece comes from the unique way the yarn is dyed.  Your knitting will change in stitch and texture as the color changes within the skein of variegated yarn.

    In this case, simple Stockinette Stitch is assigned to the prominent color in your skein to create a backdrop for the cluster stitch assigned to the accent color.  Imagine little flowers floating in a field or dandelion seeds blowing in the wind.

    Our kit includes 3 skeins of hand-dyed yarn from Mother of Purl's own dye kitchen.  The dyeing technique allows for this assigned pooling to knit up in a random pattern. You'll have fun seeing the pattern of your unique shawl emerge.  This is a fun and unusual technique where you follow the colors in the yarn as you knit.  Every assigned pooling project will be as unique as the yarn you choose.
