This vibrant sock yarn is from Snallygaster Fibers, a small dye shop that recently relocated back to Maine. It's named for Polaris which is the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Minor, closest to the celestial pole. Polaris Sock is a joy to work with, and with names and colorways inspired by some of the best fantasy and science fiction stories around, they have an originality and charm unlike any other.

The yarn is a blend of superwash merino and nylon. It's a sturdy blend for durable socks, but still soft enough for neckwear and hats. Plus it has excellent stitch definition and a silky, smooth feel.

Note about Hand Dyed Yarns – While we love the exquisite colors available in hand dyed yarns, there can be significant variations from skein to skein. Please follow these guidelines to ensure success:

    • Purchase enough yarn to complete your project, allowing for a bit of overage, just in case!
    • Not all differences in skeins are obvious when comparing skeins.
    • For projects that require 2 or more skeins, we highly recommend blending your skeins by using 2 balls at once, alternating every couple of rows from each ball. This should blend any variations between skeins.
